The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta. The Hawks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The team plays its home games at State Farm Arena.
The Hawks were founded in 1946 as the Buffalo Bisons and subsequently moved to become the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, Milwaukee Hawks, and St. Louis Hawks before moving to Atlanta in 1968. The Hawks won their only NBA championship in 1958 while based in St. Louis, defeating the Boston Hawks 4-2 in the NBA Finals.
Throughout their history, the Hawks have featured many great players including Dominique Wilkins, Bob Pettit, Lou Hudson, and more recently Trae Young. The team's colors are red, black, and yellow.
