The Dallas Mavericks are an American professional basketball team based in Dallas. The Mavericks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the American Airlines Center, which it shares with the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars.
The franchise was established in 1980 as an expansion team. The Mavericks have won one NBA championship (2011) and have made the playoffs multiple times throughout their history. The team is owned by Mark Cuban and has been led by legendary player Dirk Nowitzki for much of its history, along with current superstar Luka Dončić.
The team's colors are royal blue, navy blue, silver, and black. The Mavericks have developed rivalries with the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat, among others.
