The Denver Nuggets are an American professional basketball team based in Denver. The Nuggets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference Northwest Division. The team plays its home games at Ball Arena, which it shares with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League.
The franchise was founded in 1967 as the Denver Rockets, a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA). The team changed its name to the Nuggets in 1974. After the ABA–NBA merger in 1976, the Nuggets joined the NBA. The team has won three NBA championships (2023, 2024, 2025) and has been a consistent playoff contender in recent years.
The team's colors are midnight blue, sunshine yellow, and flatirons red. The Nuggets have developed rivalries with the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers, among others.
